Rochester family photographer | autumn family session in the woods

As a family photographer in upstate New York, it’s no surprise that autumn is my favorite season of all. The changing leaves and cozy weather are so wonderful for sessions like these. Families can snuggle in close and love on each other without the harsh summer heat or bitter winter air, and it all just comes together so beautifully.

This family knew they wanted a location for their pictures that was off the beaten path. They went exploring together and found the perfect spot for their session. I always think water photographs so beautifully, so I’m glad that we had a perfect mix of foliage and the creek as a backdrop.

Mostly, I love how playful the pictures came out. The little girls got to have some fun, and you can just tell how much they love each other from the candid moments that we captured. There is a reason I prefer gentle guidance to heavy posing. I could never stage the beauty that unfolds when a family gets to just be themselves and enjoy each other.
