This pregnancy session in Rochester, NY was such a dream to capture. I photographed this family one year ago, so it was fun to see how much big sister had grown since then and how excited she was to welcome a new sibling. It is truly a gift to be able to visit with families year after year and capture the ways that they’ve grown and changed.

The cherry blossoms at Highland Park are my all time favorites in Rochester. The way that the storybook hills of trees catch the light at any time of day is just magical, and the delicate white and pink flowers dancing in the breeze is the epitome of spring in New York. You simply cannot beat it as a backdrop for family photos. The window of time is very short, but it’s so worth it if you can manage to plan a photography session during this time.

Of course with such a stunning setting comes a crowd. Because of the number of people in the park during peak bloom, it’s important to select a professional photographer who knows the best spots to use and how to work strategically to avoid all the people around. It definitely also helps to plan for early morning or a week day, if possible.
