The sunset, the quiet beach all to ourselves, and the warm, calm water; everything about this session was a dream. Mama planned to hop in the lake for a few photos as summer came to an end in Rochester. Neither of us could believe it when Lake Ontario felt like a nice warm bath.
It was an unexpected surprise when big brother asked to swim with mama, and just a photographer’s dream moment, so beautiful and authentic.
When I look at this family’s pictures, I can feel the joy of the evening. The images of mama’s perfect belly in the lake especially take me right back to the calm and peace and overwhelming love.
I love being able to offer spring mini sessions every year because it gives families a chance to update the photos in their homes and on their walls. Especially in Rochester, where the blossoming trees of Highland Park make the most stunning backdrop, mini sessions are such a joy.

Everything came together just so for this maternity session in Highland Park.
With sweet smelling magnolia trees and spring sunshine as the perfect backdrop, this family strolled through the beautiful blooming garden and let me capture their love for each other and excitement for new baby brother on the way. It was such a lovely afternoon, and mama was as glowy as the sun beaming down around us.
I love to photograph families and children in Highland Park not only because it is so stunning, but also because it allows for kids to explore a little bit and for families to create new memories together. Whether walking around on the paths or picnicking on a blanket in the shade of a magnolia tree, there are endless opportunities for beauty to unfold.
